[ It's been a significant while. Stephen's never had overly much to do with El - Gaby is his usual port of call for Morningstar business, as much to check in on her as anything. It means that the revelation didn't do the damage here that it did elsewhere. No hurt, relatively little corruption of a trust that's strictly professional. He can understand the need for the choice that was made.

Knowing is what brings him direct to El. He doesn't bother with preamble - he's reaching out on business, so he opens with it. ]

I need to speak with you about Markus and the sports bar safehouse.

Do you know if he's been officially reported missing?

[ He won't have turned up for work since his disappearance, and that's unlike him, so it's possible. But Stephen's yet to be contacted by police. He's assuming that means his absence is still legally unofficial. ]

Protocol for Displaced that disappear is that I take care of the logistical hoops. I do what I can to make sure they keep their jobs in case it's a situation where they suddenly come back, which as you know has happened before. But if enough time passes, sometimes they end up being let go by their employers anyway, and I end up having to end their housing contracts. The last step in that is to file a missing persons report with the police.

I just filed one for Markus recently.

Clarke has volunteered to take Markus' place as partner with the bar. We need her name on legal documents for security, in case of exactly this, but I'm not sure how soon is too soon if the police are likely to do due diligence on the report.

[ The last thing they need is a police investigation centering around why one Stephen Strange and one Clarke Griffin have lept into business together within less than a month of the disappearance of an existing business partner. ]

Is there any potential for backdating her addition as tertiary partner?

[ It's the simplest solution he can think of. If on record she joined them a significant amount of time before Markus disappeared, it's unlikely to raise any red flags.

Though who knows if there's still time to slip that in unnoticed. If it's even possible in the first place - he's not the expert here. ]
