Why do you need to know?

I've seen planets razed or stuck in impossible debt systems if they weren't that lucky. Entire cities obliterated, wiped off the planet. No one so much as lifted a finger.

What made the world care about those families?

It was less about the families and more about how they met their end. Suddenly humans realized that the convenience that AIs provided could be turned against them.

It's much easier to cast blame on something that doesn't have a physical body, or even a voice.

Better now than they were a few months ago, but still not great.

I think there's an opportunity to point out that they're not untouchable. Maybe change people's opinions about them at least a little. Not saying that you're going to be able to overthrow them entirely, to be clear.

Do you know who it was that designed your original programming?

It wasn't a single person. More of a designed by committee situation, as far as I understand it.

Specific to Xelkov or did the other corporations contribute?

[mrngstr]

Not just Xelkov. Plenty of other corporations had a finger in that pie.

Like now, the corporations are near incestuous.

Did Riverstone?

No.

Cassian says Ricky Ling was an opportunist who took advantage of the war to line his own pockets like a piece of huttshit. The war he saw coming and prepared for despite no signs of unrest. What are your thoughts?

That's not exactly accurate. Ling seemed to distrust AI before there was even a reason to distrust them, so yes, he was prepared when the war came, but I don't think it was about money. His dislike of AI was genuine, and he ran his company with the express purpose of undermining any AI technology.

But why? AI could have pushed this world forward so much further than it's gone. Space travel, hyperspeed, reasonable terraforming projects.

He built androids, why did he deem them less dangerous than AI?

I don't have any better idea than you do. It's always bothered me, too. As if he knew something the rest of the world didn't. But that isn't possible.

Do you have any information about his personal life? Was he part of the anti-tech religion?

No idea. I don't know much about him other than what's already part of the public record.

What got you so curious about Riverstone and Ricky Ling in the first place?

[realists]

Cassian's initial information came from Riverstone itself. The bias was apparent. What we found looking on our own was biased in the opposite direction.

Unfortunately the blue shit I can do is not going back in time to check.
